T-5 to T-56
Well i have a 92 RS with a T-5 in it and think i may be getting a T-56 soon and was wondering if there was anything i would need to change or add to do this swap?I kno that the T-56 did come off of an LS1 equpped car so it has to be a 98 or newer tranny.I have a 357 small block with TBI.My rearend is stock so i'm pretty sure i have really low gears and was wanting to kno if this swap is possible?I kno it won't bolt right up so what else would i need in order to make it happen?
Thanks,
Will

I have done that!
I did that swap! I purchase a T-56 that was prep to replace my weak t-5. For once it has a plate that reoriented the angle of the tranny and the allow me to us the T-5 bell housing. One thing I have to say that the t-56 weight about 3 tims more.. is huge. If interest I can try to scann the brochore so you can see what is involve. But after all... it did worth it!

The 93-97 style T56's are almost a direct bolt-in. I've heard it's possible to get a 98-up T56 to work, but it's expensive and a major PITA.
