9 inch tail shaft?

9 inch tail shaft?

i just bought a th350 the owner said it was the one with the short tail shaft
but when i got home and measured it from where the four bolts hold the tail shaft in place to the end of the tranny it measured 9 1/4 inches so would that make it the long tail or am i measering it wrong thanks for any help

Transmission: 700-r4
Been about a year since i installed mine, but yeah that would be what 82-92 ppl call a long tailshaft. It will fit iwth the stock 700r4 driveshaft. There hsould also be a 6" tailshaft version and a longer one (according to my trans shop).

Transmission: TH400 with brake, 8" PTC converter
Axle/Gears: moser 9" 4.11
sounds like the long tailshaft which would fit in the stock 700R4 driveshaft

Axle/Gears: 4.30 M12, 23.42 10 bolt
Your good, be sure to remember that the 1st gear ratio is around 2.5, the 700r is like 2.97 or so, i have seen a loss in 60 foot times(1.8 up to 2.0) so if it does not feel as good launching you will know why, unless you use a stall...
