hey guys i just picked up a 86 iroc-z guy before me doesnt know jack about car(i.e couldnt tell carburated or fuel injected) he did say it had a 350 motor in in, havent varified it yet but w.e. my question is the clutch slips like all hell, im new to manual transmissions but i have a feeling i need to replace the clutch, what are good clutches out there that wont break the bank and be able to handle 350 (maybe 400) power

Clutchy clutchy
A stock one from your local auto parts store will suffice just fine and that'll be your cheapest route, or you can get a zoom clutch from summit for $120.00 then they skyrocket from there. Make sure you get your flywheel resurfaced for the new clutch, most bigger auto parts stores can do this for you for around $20 bucks or so, if you don't your new clutch will be as bad as your old clutch in no time. Don't let anybody tell you to take sandpaper to it either, the finish has to uni-directional, and your new clutch will last so much longer too! GOOD LUCK

Also GM never put a five speed behind a 350, not to say someone didn't do a motor swap, but if he tells you its all stock he's full of it, and its probably a 305, check the casting number on the block, its behind the drivers side cylinder head on the pre 86 blocks and some 86 and after blocks are up near the top of the bellhousing flange{like below the distributor}.

i really dont think its a stock motor. 1st off cuz the kid said it was a 350 2n its painted chevy orange (why someone would take the time to do that to a stock motor, idk) and 3rd it seems to powerfull to be a 305(have a 84 z28 with a stock 305, was a daily driver for 1.5) so. im thinking im just gonna go with the zoom clutches, unless i hear bad stuff/better reviews about other ones.
thanks
