Car: 85 trans am
Engine: 383 stroker
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: 9 bolt rear 3:70
t5??

well every1 is telling me that my t5 wont hold up to my 383 and 3:70's with sticky tires. so when i rebuild this what gears should i use, ratio wise and should any descent trans shop be able to handle this?

Axle/Gears: dana 44, 3.55
you can rebuild it all you want, it's not gonna hold 450ftlbs of trq for very long, trust me... i went easy on mine and had cryo hardened gears, and some other goodies. For the money you will need to invest in the t5, i would put it in, go easy on it and drop the cash on a good t56 with viper internals...

About the only T5 gearset that might be able to handle that type of power would be the Astro Performance "Super T5" gearset, but it's not cheap (about $1100).
