Hey all, I have a quick question about a car I found at a boneyard today. Its a 92 Camaro V6 witha 5 spd. According to the tech data this should be a 3.42 rear. How can I check? Are there markings on the diff or gears? Thanks in advance!!

 

Well I am going to get it anyway. Cant beat 60 bucks for the complete axle.

 

On the left? axle shaft there should be numbers by taking those you should be able to cross reference it to an axle ratio by book.

 

Very hard to tell by looking at the exterior. Your carrier could have changed, the gears could have changed, etc.

Open the cover and count the gears, etc and do the math. It's the only way to tell for sure.

Yeah, the only other ratio you ever see in the V6 cars is 3.23, and that's almost always in the automatic cars. 60 bucks is well worth it for either of those ratios.
