Alrighty so I ran into a guy with a 4L60E transmission that came out of a 1995 Caprice with an LT1 motor. He wants $200 for it but I'm sure I can talk him down a bit. Will it bolt up with no problems? Dont laugh I'm learning still

It will bolt up, but the computer you need to make it work costs more than you're paying for the transmission.
A buddy of mine who was a newbie to thirdgens got a 4L60E on trade from a guy thinking he could use it in his 90 Iroc. Needless to say, he ended up re-selling it for cheap to another guy after he found out how much it would be to buy a computer to run it in a thirdgen. The really, really sad part about the whole deal was the fact that he actually traded an LT1 T56 to the guy straight across for the 4L60E!
It pays to do your research, and I applaud you for not being afraid to ask here on the boards. You don't need any type of computer to run a 4L60E. You can remove the EPC and install a vacuum modulator kit. While I don't recommend it, some have had success with it. Pro-Built Transmissions sells them.

from what i read, that modulator only controls the kickdown(replaces the epc). it doesn't control the shifts.

There is a full manual Shift kit for the 4L60E, and it uses the vacuum modulator. It allows you shift it without the computer. You still will need to wire it for the torque converter lockup.

Ok so here is what I did. I ditched the 4L60E because the $700 for a computer scared me away. I went to the yard today and pulled a 700R4 out of an 84Z28 that will be going in my Iroc for a few months to get me rolling. Down the line I save up and rebuild this one as my current trans has a broken pump.
Also at the yard I found an aluminum racing seat
that needs a new cover...Not too bad for $10
