Smacking sound under car

so yeah, i have an 84 z-28 with a couple edelbrock parts under the hood. my problem is, i have a sound coming from under the car that sounds like a smacking metal to metal to the body of the car. i cannot figure out where it is coming from or what it could possibly be. Tranny mount looks ok, no play in u joints, etc. at slow speeds it seems to make the rear of the car bump up and down a little bit. btw, the axles are straight and rims are fine. Has anyone else had this problem? help me please

Put the car up on jack stands or take it to a shop where you can put it up on a lift to inspect the underside real closely. You may find more than one thing contributing to the sounds that you're hearing.

Good luck

You should put a jack on the transmission and jack it up while watching the mount. They can tear right at the top or bottom of the mount and appear to be normal while at rest...

trans mount...

Been there done that a few times!

Even without jacking up the tranny you can look above the yolk coming out of the tranny and see where it and the driveshaft has smacked into the tunnel!
