6 speed swap in a 1986 IROC
ok i have a few questons about the swap from and Automatic 700R4 to the T56 i found a 86 firebird with pedals and some other misc.parts i know i need the trans, bell housing, master and slave, clutch etc. but what im wondering about is the computer is set up for an automatic, will that be a problem? also that year trans should i look for that requires the least modifications.and i was wondering that i do to hook up the spedometer becasue someone told me the T56 have an electric type hook up? anything i should look out for? problems, suggestions?
Re: 6 speed swap in a 1986 IROC
does anyone know what to do about the computer? or the spedometer?
becasue the computer is set up for an auto now, what will happen when the standard is in.. also the computer needs to read the VSS signal, if i use the abbott cable x i can use my stock guage so that will work but how do i make shure the speedometer is correct for the gear ratio because there will no longer be a spedometer gear in the trans to change for a different gear ratio?

Since you have a Camaro, in that year it uses a cable speedo. The VSS is on the back of the instrument cluster.
