700R4 experts please help
Heres the situation I'm currently in. I have an 88 Iroc 5.7 automatic with 31,000 original miles on it. I bought a 1993 T-56 that I will be swapping into it this year. Well now I'm gonna have a low mileage tranny laying around but I believe I may have a use for it in my 1992 C2500 Cheyenne. It's just a two wheel drive three quarter ton "lite" (It has the six lug wheels but the huge driveshaft and fourteen bolt rearend and light duty leaf springs) This truck has 219,000 miles on everything and its done some serious towing so I assume the tranny is gonna blow one of these days. So can I just stick my camaro tranny in this truck and use my truck driveshaft or is the length of the case different. I discussed this briefly with a guy at the tranny shop and he said something about a connection with something that has to do with the torque converter and it possibly overheating if not hooked up with the right connector. I don't have a clue what he was talking about but I don't think either one of these transmissions is electronically controlled they aren't 4L60e's but I'm not an expert. Any help with the interchangeability of these two would be greatly appreciated.
