My 700 Blows
Basicly I havn't had a chance to test it much yet, I only drove it home and it was only like a 5 km drive. But she shifts pretty hard, hard enough that it would appear as though it has a shift kit. The whole car only has 120,000 KM ( 75000 miles ).
Regardless, I'm just wondering if it is indeed shifting hard... Does this mean I'm in for a new tranny, or is it worth trying out those STP fluids and what not to see if I can get her shiftin a little more nice. And I have no idea if it does have a shift kit cause the old owner was dumb like dumptruck...
All i can offer for the "what happens" is that it shifts hard enough that it almost wants to go from 1st to 3rd, especially if I give it a bit of gas. If I drive it super light on the pedal it does shift into second, but it almost jerks into gear...
Ideas?

Suppose I could drop the pan and have a look... Oh well if the tranny is gone just gives me an excuse to buy a new one...

try adjusting the kickdown cable first, if your on the gas does it actually skip second or just bang into it?

Re: My 700 Blows
It sort of acted like I was shifting it manually and let it rev a little higher, then it did shift hard into third. But that was under some acceleration, after I noticed that I drove her slower and it did go into second, but it just went into gear pretty tight. It wasnt slipping at all, and the shifts were in gear and felt right. Just the transition between gears was rough.
Thats why I thought maybe it had a shift kit.
The previous owner was the 2nd owner and he owned the car for 15 years. Not too long ago he had his brother pull the engine and rebuild it. So I assumed that while he was doing the engine he might have gone into the tranny too.
Pretty soon here I'll take her out again for a cruise and see whats going on. I bought her in Nov, and shes been sitting out back ever since.

if its shifting hard and shifting later than it should then you need to adjust your TV cable. the TV cable should be about mid way down the adjustment. if your cable is set really close to the end (the adjustment piece is pushed all the way in) then itll shift hard and late. and if you had a shiftkit in there, it would be such a hard 1-2 shift that it would spin the tires when you floor it.

Re: My 700 Blows
Ahh thanks mate, thats some good news. My old Camaro had a stage 2 shift kit and I LOVED it. The nice chirp from 1-2 was enough to make my day.
Anyways, I'll have a look at that cable and give her a little adjust.
