hello,everyone i need help,friday nigh i decided how bad will i get beat when i pull out my 1991 3.1 firebird to the illeagl street races in pa?well bad ideal i was starting to race another bock stock 3.1 camaro and i netural bombed it and then i heard something sound like it unbolted i was scared as hell?so now every time i punch her from a light something under my shifter makes a loud bang i think i broke something on the trans but trans shift smoothly doesn't overheat i just can't take off really fast without hearing the loud bang any help anybody please help ?????????

 

Sounds like you have a broken trans mount or bad torque arm mount.

 

where can i find a toque arm mount? for sale?

 

You will probably have to get one from the dealer. This is the mount that is bolted on the side of the trans. Have you checked the trans mount?

all I know that its slamming underneath my shifter so please help could you tall me what it sounds like to you either the trans mount or torque arm I'm not a mechanic so I dont know and if so how much would a torque arm cost me roughly?thanks rob

 

I would bet that you have a broken trans mount by what you are describing. Trans mission mounts are fairly cheap and go bad all the time. They are like $15 - $20. As far as the torque arm mount I think the dealer is the only place to get one.
