I got an 89 camaro rs vert that i am going to be dropping in a 406 this winter. I was just wondering what rear end would be good for me im not gona be goin to the track much just mostly a sat nite special. I already have a ford 9inch that i was wondering if i could stick in it replacing the 10 bolt but i didnt know what was in need of an exchange.

Re: help with choosing a rear end

Do you know the rear end ratio it has now?

I used the stock 10 bolt and have a 355 in the car now that is pretty healthy. I had it rebuilt and used a Torsen diff and 3:73 gears with 28 spline Moser axles and a support cover. I believe that the 10 bolt with the alloy axles and a support cover will be just fine on the street with street tires.

The 9 inch if it is not already set up to fit an F-Body, will be a very labor intensive, precise project to complete properly.
