Converting manual to auto -- can pilot bearing stay in, or have to remove it?

Hi guys, I am converting from a manual to auto trans (yes! Most people do the opposite but I like auto's, this will be the second stick car I have done this to, LOL). Do I have to pull the pilot bearing from the crank, or can I just leave it in there?

Thanks
