Need help with 700R4??

Hey, This tranny is in a 91 GMC Seirra 4x4, I know its not a Camaro/Firebird but I heard this is a very good Forum for tech help, so maybe you guys can help??? I sent my tranny to get rebuilt quite awhile ago now, got a tci kit put in, 2400 stall. When I got it back and installed it, I had no 3rd or 4th. 1st and 2nd were great but no 3rd or 4th. So after troubleshooting, checking the tv cable over and over, cause thats what i was told was the problem. I finally gave up and pulled my tranny again, when I drained the fuild, I found small piece of metal in it?? gave it back to the mechanic that built it for me.... Then few weeks later got it back, but was busy working for the next 2-3 months, in the mean time, he moved away. I finally got around to putting it in and after checking everything over and over, I went to go take it for a test drive and it wouldnt it move. It would rev to about +/-2400 but wouldnt move, there was a load on the engine in every gear. Checked everything over again, and went to go move it again, and no go. I ended up parking it all last winter at my parents house and now I went to go get it and move it down here. Figued I would see if maybe it moved now... started it up, let it run for about 20-30mins. Went to go and move it, and it slowly started moving, it was having a hard time though. Then it made kinda a loud bang noise and something "locked" up in the tranny. I tried it again, it wouldnt move, there was a load on the engine, then bang, it started moving, then it stoped, but the motor reved up and the tran was making a whining noise and now theres no more load on the engine when its in gear. I think I might of fu*ked it up more than it already is. I never tried doing this that much, it was only 2-3 times, but I am thinking about rebuilding/fixing it myself. Do you know what I should look for?
-TV cable is brand new
-I checked the governor as some people said on other forums, might be the problem, and it looks fine. I was told it should move when you turn the flywheel by hand, and someone else said it shouldnt?? I tried it and it doesnt move, should it??
I think I am going to buy that build book and dvd to help me, but do you think this is something I can do? I think I should be able to, just dont want to tear it apart and not know what to look for??? I also just droped the pan today and found chunks of metal in it again.

Thanks for your help in advance
Rick

Transmission has to come out and be disassembled to find out what happened, there is no other way.

Yeah, I figued that, I pulled the tranny out today and have it ready to be disassembled. I bought a GM automatics rebuild book that covers it pretty good and also printed off a 33 page thing off the internet with lots of pictures and good info aswell.

Re: Need help with 700R4??

Ive just done my first 700r4, build.
Its not bad at all,,the haynes book helped alot also.
Just go step by step.and what helps also, is leave your clutch packs together ,and do one at a time.
good luck,
