Crossmember help

I have a 82 Z which has a 355 mounted to a turbo 350, what i would like to know is when I install a 700r4 will my stock crossmenber work or will I need a new one, the 700r4 looks a little longer than the 350, also will my stock shifter work with the 700r4, I do have the proper plate for the shifter. thanks Len

Car: 83 trans am
Engine: 5.7 V8
Transmission: 700R
Re: Crossmember help

the crossmember for the 700r and the 350 turbo is differnet and so is the shifter. the 350 trans goes from D,2,1 but the 700r goes from d-with a circule around it then a D,2,1. the reason for that is that the 350 doesn't have an over drive but the 700r does. if u want i can give u my shifting counsal cuz i'm putting an t-5 in and throughing away my 700r trans and setup
