i have a few t5 questions:
-what is the difference between a world class and regular t5?
-how can i tell which one i have?
-how much torque can each handle?
-is there any way to strengthen either?

The earlier versions of the T5 were called Non-World Class (NWC). There was a design change to upgrade the strength and reliability, these later transmissions are refered to a World Class (WC).
If you can post year, engine, etc. (and your car still has the factory installed trans), there are lists to tell us whether the trans is NWC or WC. There should also be a metal tag on the trans with a 1352-xxx number that can be decoded. Note, the numbers cast into the case and tail housing do not ID the T5. If the trans is out of the car, there are also pictures posted on the web that can help you decide NWC vs. WC.
Depending on the version T5s can handle from 200 to 350 foot pounds of engine torque.
It is not practical to convert NWC to WC, since nearly every part changed, including the main case. Yes there are strengthened T5s available, but note these aftermarket trans are priced when new $1200 and up (sometimes way up).
