zoom clutches
I will be replacing the clutch in my car soon. I have no idea what clutch is in it right now, it was there when I bought the car, I assume it is oe or stock replacement. I was considering replacing with a zoom high performance organic set. Anyone have any experience with these? Hold good on a stock motor? Last a while?

Re: zoom clutches
I'm not sure if the one I bought was organic, but I bought a complete clutch kit from advance auto for my 90 Firebird. The original had 160k on it, and was down to the rivets. I put the zoom clutch in and that car was terrible after that, even after a proper break-in. It was extremely difficult to get a good launch. It seemed to get hot REALLY fast. If you didnt get the launch perfect the first time, it didnt give a second chance. If you tried to launch too hard it would slip like crazy. The clutch may do ok on the street with an easy driver, but if your looking for real performance then I will say flat out that I think zoom makes garbage. My original 160K+ clutch that was down to the rivets held better than the brand new zoom clutch. If i ever buy another clutch it'll be ANYTHING accept Zoom.

Re: zoom clutches
I had a Zoom Power Torque ( I think that was the model) from Advance Auto and it lasted about 3 weeks before I removed it and had Advance refund my money and labor costs.
It would either slip really bad or chatter. I then went with a Centerforce Dual Friction and loved that clutch setup.
I just recently put in a new clutch kit in my 88 Formula and went with a Hays Performance kit from Jegs for $245, comes complete with PP, Clutch disc, pressure plate bolts, TO bearing, and alignment tool.
I am very happy with this one.

I was thinking the 5th down zzz30009
My car is a stock 91 rs305, nothing wild, but I want the clutch to last when I replace it.
