well, i came home one night in my 2.8liter 86 maro, and i put the car in park and my shifter was veryyyyyyyyyy lose and it went into park, but when i put it in reverse my shifter went straight back, and did'nt lock. i pray to god my whole tranny didn't go out or something, but thisis my only mode of transportation, andits my first car. any ideas?

 

same thing happened to me in my old 2.8liter camaro

shifting was very very sloppy, almost no transition feeling between gears.

turns out the linkage was just about falling off of the car. got that all fixed in about 30 seconds and it shifted solid into every gear from then on. =)
