electric to mechanical speedo

I'm exploring my options for swapping my electrical speedo for a mechanical one. I'm not wanting to get a new trans though. would it be possible just to change my output shaft housing for one with a mechanical speedo setup? or is there an adapter that I don't know of that can switch the signal from electrical to mechanical? by the way, there is now ECM in my car anymore. that's why I'm swapping.

The housings are the same size, so you can swap them with no problems.
