World Class T5 question
I have a donor car lined up for my T5 swap but I need to know for sure. We're all T5s mated to V8s in 1989 World Class T5s. The donor car is an 89 GTA 5.0 TPI 5-speed. I'de hate to spend the $500 and then find out the tranny isn't WC.

Re: World Class T5 question
IIRC, the WC first appeared in 88, so you should be fine unless, of course, the tranny isn't original to the car. There may be a metal date tag attached to the case. Also, on the left side there's a 50 Torx bolt (the non-WC has a 21 mm 6-point)

That stupid PIT team / ISO9000 / Total Quality Mgmt / etc. 80s buzzword is really just B-W's lame excuse for a way to say "verion 2" or "2nd design".
They made the new design available starting in about 86, and GM stayed with the old design transmissions for a short while and then switched over to buying the new kind in 88.
I just posted some pics I found showing the difference between the 1st design and the 2nd design YESTERDAY. Can't be more than 5 or 10 posts earlier than yours. Reading other people's posts where they ask the same question, especially an extremely redundant one like this one, is always a good idea, even if the Search feature is broken.
Here's a link to the pics. You can see this part even while the transmission is still in the car.
