Hello, kind of new to the boards, so I guess I should say hello to everyone, and thanks for all advice given to me in the future. My car is a 1986 Camaro vin H carbed 305 700R4 that I just bought for $350.

So, down to business, my transmission is acting up with me, so I thought instead of bothering with it, I'll get a real transmission and put it in there. Without a lot of research, I have found I will need the brake and clutch pedals, the clutch hydros, the transmission itself, the shifter, and the console assembly from the junkyard, and the actual clutch kit. Now, can I get by using a used flywheel as it is, or do I need a new one? Am I missing anything?

 

you need a v8 trans from a f-body, the bell housing from an f-body. you can use a used flywheel but a new one is recommended and if the budget is there, get a billet flywheel, they tend to explode less, and your feet are a good thing to have. its not totally necessary, but better be safe then sorry.

 

Ok, another question, what would you guys suggest as a decent and cheap clutch kit/flywheel? I'm not going for much more power than stock, so it doesn't have to be rediculous. Links are good.
