need help on rear end gears
i want to buy rear end gears for my camaro but idk where to start what to look for i kno the ratios tho and i want to go with 3.73's or around that, i have the open differential not posi, so can this even be done, i may sound dumb but ive never ever done anything like this.
i want to go faster and this is the olny thing i could think of next if theres something else i should do then let me know thanks.

Re: need help on rear end gears
3.73's would work ok. Right now you have a 2 series carrier, so if you get the 3 series gears, you'd need the thick gears, to match your 2 series carrier. Or you can run the spacer.
With 3 series gears the pinion is thinner, so the posi is "fatter", to get everything aligned. If you just stuck in steep 3.73 gears, your ring gear wouldn't be far enough out to engage the pinion - hence you need a spacer, or thicker gears. I prefer to explain that point rather than just saying it.
I'd recommend you get a 3 series posi, and just buy the normal gears.
That's a good mod to get the car faster. It's pretty seperate from what's under the hood, which is nice.
You can worry about engine mods later.

Re: need help on rear end gears
Gears are gears
the carrier, is what makes it a posi or not.
You can change one, or the other, or both.
