3.08 to 3.73 speedo problem
I have a 92 rs with a T-5 and i changed the 3.08 gear to a 3.73 in the stock rearend. And as i guessed the speedo is off 10 mph and I know this is a electronic speedo. I was wondering if anyone knows whats involved in changing this to get the right speed on the speedo?

No, it's not 10 mph off.
It's actually about 21% off. In other words, it's off about 8 mph at 40, 12 mph at 60, almost 15 at 70, etc.
You need the right speedo gears. No big deal.

I was wondering if this is still true with an electonic speedo. Do these gears go in behind the sensor or something?

You need the ones like you see in the "Electronic 700-R4" section. You might have to change the one on the trans maishaft as well, which requires disassembling the transmission. You'll just have to look inside there and see.
NOw that you know what the parts all look like and what to look for, go look at what you've got in your trans; and come back and look at the page to see what you have to get to replace it.

Re: 3.08 to 3.73 speedo problem
Only the speedo signal is electronic. The gears inside the tranny are the same type of plastic gears used in a cable speedo. The drive gear on the tailshaft is the same, but the driven gear on the VSS is different between a cable speedo and an electronic speedo.
The newer transmissions, like 4L60E's and T56's use true electronic speedos that require a reprogram of the computer when you change the rear end gears. Our cars simply require new plastic gears in the tranny.

I changed the ring and pinion along with the carrier to change it from an open to a posi. It has richmand gears and alburn carrier. All of this fix in the diff nicely. It really made the car a lot more fun to drive.
