like so many others my car does not have park, i looked through the posts and found out i need to adjust the shift cable so i did , when i got under there i unbolted the cable and i can shift it to park be hand and the car wont move,but when i go to bring the cable up to it it seems to short. no matter how hard i try i can not get it to stretch so i bolted it back up and tried to shift in to park by hand with the cable on and it wont go in to park . is it possible the cable is to short? i bought the car with this problem and was told the tranny had been replaced .from what is unknown 1986 iroc z28

 

i had a similar problem on a 90 that i bought i guess the cable had been stretched i put the car in park and bolted the cable to it and pulled the cable up tight and put 2 plastic ties on it where it would stay tight and it works ok or you may have the wrong cable
