4L60 false neutrals
this ones for you guys that know your transmissions...
I am having an issue with this performance built gearstar transmission 17,000 miles on it.
problem:
while driving mildly aggressive or ***** out manual shifting from second to third or while in automatic mode it appears I am loosing line pressure and its in neutral for a split second on the 2 to 3 shift.
I am not sure if third is coming in and going right out or if in fact it never engages.(very difficult to tell as i have a 3000 stall and it pulls like a bear in any gear) let me clarify that it is not slipping its just in neutral like i put the lever in neutral while driving. This transmission does not slip. The gears when changing are aggressive and tires chirp. high 7's in the 1/8 mile is what the car runs.
It has done this 6-8 times in the last 3000 miles or so. I have adjusted the linkage on the shifter and that did not solve it. tranny fluid is not burnt and level is o.k. I have ruled out the t.v. system and governor system based on how they work. If i am wrong please tell me.
what do i begin to look for such a problem and can you guys recommend a book with the info about how this tranny works so i don't have to depend on other people to solve my problems(as in where i bought it) they have been less than helpful over the last 18 months.

Re: 4L60 false neutrals
thats not the route i want to go and heres why...
the transmission is setup to shift manually at the track and when driven aggressivly. the shift points are set by the governor to shift at 4500rpm. my shifts need to be at 6000rpm. I really need to dig in and see why this is happening and i am ready to do so even if the tranny has to come out. I have been down the governor road and manually shifting is what i want it to do.
what need to be replaced to cure this? th350?

Re: 4L60 false neutrals
leaving in overdrive provides the same situation.
I replaced and recalibrated the governor with no avail... this thing is under warranty please help. should I send the complete unit back or request a new valve body???

Re: 4L60 false neutrals
If you want 6,000 rpm automatically, you will need a Corvette valve body, and matching Corvette light weight governor. Find out what Gearstar uses for the 3-4 clutch pack here? and what Shift kit (if any) they use.
