I'm going to be acquiring an 86 Trans Am in the near future, and I'm planning on a 350 at plus 30 thousandths with an output of around 325hp at the rear wheels. I'm also planning on a 200 shot NX nitrous kit for the track.

I have done some research and have found out that the pre-88 700r's are significantly weaker than the later models. What kind of upgrades do i need to bring it to the later spec, and from there, is there an upgrade kit or recommended modifications for bringing a 700r4 up to par for handling 475-500hp?

note: I plan on using a B&M console megashifter.

The pump in an 86 is only 7 vane. Upgrade it to 10 vane. Upgrade the 26 element sprag to 29 element and upgrade the lo-roller clutch as well. New accumulator pistons are recommended too.
