I am so close to having this project finished ,butttttttttt as i got ready to fill my tranny with fluid i put in my driveshaft and much to my chagrin its 1-2 inches to long wtf! driveshaft came in a bag in the back of the car the trans is a turbo350 9" tail it may be possible its not even a camaro driveshaft but the front yoke slid right in its just to long my understanding is it should fit just fine the car is on jack stands that are placed on the diff so full weight is on the suspension am i missing something? how long is the original driveshaft also the car was originally a 5 speed

 

Stock 83-02 driveshaft works with the TH350 9" tail shaft. 5 spd or auto. Sounds like you either have a non F body driveshaft or one from an 82. The 82 driveline works with a 6" tailshaft as it was a couple inches longer. If your sure this driveline fits right on both ends you could have it shortenned, but your easiest solution might be a trip to the junkyard and just grab a driveshaft.

 

The shaft is 41 1/2 from U center to U center. Though I have no experience with the tranny in question, I've been led to believe that the drive shaft won't fit TH350's, 82-83. I once sold a 1LE shaft to a member with a TH350 and it wouldn't fit--or at least he claimed it wouldn't.

thanx for the help guys i went to my local u-wrench it grabbed a driveshaft from a 1987 305 auto went back it to was to long so i did a measurement and wow 41 1/2 u center to u center lol altho im still puzzled to why the stock 700r4 driveshafts arent fitting engine tranny everything else looks and fits fine so im going to shorten my original take the other one back and get my refund ..........now on to other small probs .......lol @least im still having fun...........................
