700r4 rebuild

I just blew out the third gear clutch packs in my 700r4. So I got a crappy one from the junkyard and threw it in my car. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good overahaul kit? I want to rebuild my original so its strong and can handle lots of power. any ideas?

Re: 700r4 rebuild

dont know of a kit thats good my tranny guy orders all his stuff seporate....
gonna need the beast sun shell, .500 boost valve, kevlar band, teflon seals, i used alto red clutches with a 3/4 8or9 clutch power pack (cant remember) to keep that from blowing out again, corvette servos, transgo shift kit, and misc pressure mods.... drilling valve body, 3washer mod and such.
feels like its kicking me in the ***** on the 1/2 shift the others are a little softer but thats due to the 3500stall converter. so far its held everything ive done too it... gonna be throwing n2o at it in a few weeks but i doubt im gonna have any problems with this setup... oh also get a tranny temp gauge heat being the main killer of the 700r4.
hope this helps

Re: 700r4 rebuild

Read this. Especially about the 3-4 clutchpack..more isnt always better but stock still is weak. About getting one from a V8 vs. a smaller motor. And about line pressure, and the wide bands. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/700r4.htm

Re: 700r4 rebuild

I solved the 3-4 clutch pack problem many years ago. I carry all of the upgrades in my rebuild kits, and the kits are very complete. What is the intent of the vehicle? Tell me about what you want to accomplish here? Please call me on this, at 909 7951876. Dana
