Right now on my camaro i believe the gears are 2.73 in a 10 bolt. My firebird has 3.42 i do believe also a 10 bolt. which is the better rear end gears?

Re: which gear

well 342's will accel quicker and have worse gas milage, while the 273's will have a higher top speed and better gas miliage. it is all a comprimise.

Re: which gear

If the 89 had PBR's, I'd say that was a plus (but it probably has drums).

Re: which gear

Im not sure what PBR's stands for... Im assuming its something with disc because you mentioned drums. Which yes it has drums. Wish all four corners had disc though.

PBR's are the 1LE rear braking system: 11.7 rotors with alum calipers (89-92). These can be swapped on a 9- or 10-bolt without much difficulty, especially if you already have the rear disc rear end. Even if you don't, they can be added to a drum rear. Search ebmiller88 for the details if you're interested in the latter. Check the following link if the former:

Re: which gear

thats funny..... lmfao
he asked about gears not brakes....
it all; depends on what you plan on doing with the car.
most will say 3:42's b/c its more of an all around gear. 2:73's dont do much of anything good except for going down the highway.
