So I'm going from externally balanced 383, one-piece rear main seal, Gen I block to LT1 T56.

I thought I seen a couple more externally balanced LT1 flywheels on Summit a couple weeks ago. :dunno:

Re: This is the right flywheel for my setup, right?

So I'm doing some research on ls1tech as well and some one says:

A stock LT1 is actually both internal and externally balanced. The front (balancer) is internal, and the flywheel is external. The stock LT1 flywheel has a weight on the flywheel to balance it.
I did not know that. I'm courious on how that works?

Anyways, I'm still not sure on how to go about this. I do not know what the 400 balancers imbalance (balance weight?) is and what the LT1 flywheel balance weight is. And if they will "match" up. Since the motor was balanced with the 400 balancer, I would like to keep that if at all possible, but I would get and aftermarket flywheel IF I absolutely have to.

you have to talk to your engine builder and see what crank he used, there are 2 cranks he could have used, an aftermarket internally balanced one and a aftermarket externally balanced one, the internally balanced flywheel will still have a small weight on it to make up for the flange that changed when GM went from a 2 piece to a 1 piece rear main, and the externally balanced F/W will have a large counterweight on it, and you will need a matching harmonic dampener for it, the one you are looking at is for the externally balanced crank.

Well it IS externally balanced, and turns out that I should have no problem with the OEM LT1 T56 Flywheel.
