ok i got this 84,ws6,l69 t/a. its an auto with 3.73 gears.

i got off of a buddy of mine who owns a little mom and pop dealership.
we finally got around to putting gas in it(it ran out) to take it to the exhaust shop. well we noticed that the rear tire had about 15lbs of air in it. mind you he doesn't know much about this car. he just got it in a month ago and hasn't gone through it till now. so we jumped in it and started down the road very easy like. then it shifts into 2nd gear and spins the deflated tires. the look on our faces was pricless. i was like cool it allready has a shift kit in it.

the unfortunate thing is that i don't know wich kind or what stage it is.
once the exhaust and oil leek is fixed i'll romp on it to see if it will grab 3rd.

i am so happy.

I hate to burst your bubble, but it is entirely likely the only reason it is chirping into 2nd is because (A) of the poor tire pressure, (B) poor tires, (C) poor suspension, and/or (D) poor traction all around.

When we first got out 92 L98/700R4, it chirped going into 2nd at full throttle. The transmission was rebuilt we assume, but no shift kit to my knowledge. At that time the rear sway bar endlinks were trash, most of the suspension was original, and it needed a lot of work in general. Now, it doesn't chirp 2nd anymore.

Just a thought

not to flame u but,
no bubble bursting here. i am positive that it has a kit in it.
for one thing it wasn't even given 1/4 throttle because of the deflated tire.
2. the tires have good meat on them and it did it when they were fully inflated too
3. the tranny shift is alot firmer than it should be stock.
and finally i have had 2 other cars with the 700r in it and 1 of them had a kit.it was an 84 t/a and the other was an 87 vette that didn't have it in.
i've been around cars long enough to recognize a shift kit when i see it.
i'm not new at this.
