aftermarket diffs.

I was looking on summit for some aftermarket diffs. I have a 91 Formula Rear with 3.42s but wanna go to some 3.73s. And I dont want the formula rear to crap on me since it was from my buddy car and beat to ****.

What should I look for. I want something that can take a little bit of abuse with my MTs. Basically a weekend car and sometimes it sees the drag strip.

Re: aftermarket diffs.

You have 3 choices for an aftermarket bolt in diff for a third gen.

A 9", 12 bolt and Strange now offers a Dana 60. All 3 will do just fine however I feel the Dana 60 is overkill in a street car. Unless you change the rear suspension, you need a direct bolt in diff to use the torque arm suspension.

Expect to pay $2500-$3000 for a complete, ready to bolt in and go differential.

Run what you have until it breaks then decide how much it's worth to upgrade to something better. No matter how much you try to beef up the factory 10 bolt, it will always have the tiny and weak ring and pinion.
