700R4 pan - std. depth

Has anyone tried this pan I see on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8493-...spagenameZWDVW
It looks decent....I just want a std. depth pan...this one looks good...they're under $50 and have the drain plug. I'll be pulling my pan to install a TCI lock-up kit and figured it would be a good time to throw a pan with a drain on.

Re: 700R4 pan - std. depth

you could just buy a drain plug kit and install it in yours. lot less money.

Re: 700R4 pan - std. depth

I added a drainplug to mine. Looks decent for the $$$ tho. There is a difference between the Aux VB pans and the earlier non-aux VB tho. Need to find that out

yup you don't want a deep pan, because then you have to stop before you go acrosst any speedbumps. speaking from experience. my TCI deep pan as a lot of dings in the alum fins. huge chunks torn out from the fins. no leaks, though.

Re: 700R4 pan - std. depth

I thought about adding a drain plug, but for $45 if this pan is decent I'd rather just use it while mine will be off anyways.

So I was told that the pan depth is about 2-3/4" from the inside bottom to the top of the flange. I just need to crawl under the car and measure mine and see if this pan will work with the aux. VB.

Thanks for the heads up on that! I never would have thought about it.

Re: 700R4 pan - std. depth

Im in the middle of rebuilding mine. I just went and measured. With a straight edge across the top and measuring the inside depth, its 2.5" exactly. I have a 1991 model tranny with the Aux VB. Suposedly there are 2 pans. One for the Aux VB trans and one for the non-Aux VB. 1987-up is Aux VB. The way you can tell is look at the impressions on the bottom corner that make a square. Thats where the magnet is inside. If one corner is shorter than the rest, its a Aux VB pan. Hope this helps

Re: 700R4 pan - std. depth

the only difference in the pans for a 2wd 700r4 is if it has a round or square magnet and those two interchange. the only ones significantly different are the 4wd pans and the corvette pans. both 2wd pans for the 700r4 are flat across the bottom. aux. and non-aux. makes no difference. i have seen litterally hundreds of these factory pans.
