Need Transmission help!

I've got a problem with the 700R4. before i did the engine swap from 305 to 350 the transmission wouldn't shift into drive right away when I'd crank up the car and shift the shifter from park to drive, it'd take about 10 seconds to sometimes like 25-30 to shift into drive. most the time it wouldn't until i revved the car up a lil bit then i'd feel it kick in... anyways... i didn't have the money or anything to worry about it i worried about the engine first. well, now that the engine swap is done i have another tranny problem, once i shift into drive and start cruising it won't shift up... it stays in first. and i refilled the tranny with new fluid... i haven't even gotten to feel the power of my new engine because of this freakin' tranny... does anyone have any idea of what it might be? there is fluid at the end of the dipstick but i was told that maybe one more bottle of fluid will do the trick but i don't really see how topping off the fluid because it isn't all the way to the top yet is gonna help... any ideas?

You need to check the tranny fluid when its hot and at operating temp. From what you have said it does sound like you are low on fluid because its so sluggish going from one gear to another. And you all so might have to readjust your tv cable.

Sounds like you are low on fluid...1st time and this time. A regular drop the pan service will need 4.5 to 5 qts of fluid. The dipstick...if correct one...has a couple of lines and a shaded area. To check fluid, warm up engine to operating temp, have some help to put it in gear and hold their foot on the brake, no need to rev it or anythinf just idle, pull the dipstick and clean it off with a rag, put it in the tube fully dowm, and then pull it back out. Hold the stick at a slight down angle and see where it comes up to on the lines. One line says 'add 1 qt' or something of that nature. The full mark is at the top line above the shaded area. To reset the TV (only reset as described and NEVER use the TV to adjust any other way to change shifting!) push in the D-shaped button next to the bracket that holds it. The extention of black sheathing (around the metal inner cableing) that is forward of the bracket/button push back toward the firewall untill seated. With the engine off, get inside and push the accelerator fully to the floor. You may hear the cable 'ratcheting' out. Sounds like a zip-tie. Look at it and you will notice it pulled the sheating back forward a bit. This is the correct reset position. If it didnt ratchet, then you have a TV plunger, TV bracket inside tranny, or TV bracket at the carb/tpi/tbi problem that needs to be addressed B$ you drive it any more. Get back on what you find. If you need a visual on the TV adjustment go to TVMadeEZ.com for a very informative explanation and pics.

Re: Need Transmission help!

Sounds like you have several problems one being low fluid causing the first issue and two either a TV cable thats not hooked up or a stuck throttle valve or if it absolutly will not shift at any rpm a broken or stripped govenor gear
