Sounds like maybe it's a 9-bolt?
If so, there was a 3.45 gear for it; not very common, but that's what you'll need to look for. Probably have to find a set used, I doubt you can buy new ones.
Interesting that it has when you CAN'T BUY "new axles" at all, AFAIK, unless some GM dealer somewhere had a set of NOS ones laying around, and a "new posi" is about $500, and has to be imported from Australia; so if it REALLY had "new" all that stuff in it, there would be roughly $1500 GREEN CASH MONEY tied up in it; but you're looking for more gears? Got some ad copy going on there, or what?
What is this thing, REALLY? Maybe we can help you figure out what to do.

Re: looking for gear options for 89 gta rear end
i bought the rear end from a guy who builds motors of drag cars a circle track cars, he has a 89 gta which the rear end came out of that has 500 hp to the rear he changed it out to all adjustable rear end and think 12 bolt or 9" because he is putting in a 510ci all aluminum motor which pushes over 1000 hp. he sayed the rear end was just rebuilt with all new stuff and gears to from gm right before he removed it. i paid 300 canadian for it. does any one know how strong this rear end is it is a Borg-Warner 9 bolt with 3.27 gears the number on the tag is 10054239.

They're fairly strong; a good bit stronger than a 10-bolt, not as strong as a Dana 44, nowhere near an aftermarket 12-bolt or 9".
Sounds like you got a great deal: the guy just GIFTED you about $1000 - $1500 worth of work. The gears ALONE from GM, back when you could buy them, would have been $400-500 US. And then, at the very least, there would have had to be an "install kit" (or the parts bought individually). So like I said, great deal. Certainly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
