rebuild kit,do i need a shift kit?

rebuild kit,do i need a shift kit?
I found a performance rebuild kit for my 700r4 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HD-PE...QQcmdZViewItem do i still need a transgo shift kit or will this replace the parts that are in the shft kit. thanks for the help

That's just the clutches and seals and such, the wear parts. All that stuff does is basically renew the transmission. Doesn't do the slightest thing about changing how it shifts.
So yeah, if you want to change your shift programming, you'll need a shift kit, governor mods, different servo, etc., according to what you want to change.
I'd suggest, since you're inexperienced with transmissions, that you rebuild it first; once that's all working right, then tackle the shift kit or whatever AFTER you have restored the trans to perfect working order. It's a whole lot easier to troubleshoot only one problem at a time, rather than stacking up potential issues by changing around too many things all at once.

theres really no problem, but i recently bought an 87 w/305tpi 700r4 with 140k so i figure its a good idea to start the mods at the trans
