Problem with new torque convertor.HELP
I am installing a new 9.5" convertor and I am running into a problem with the convertor having a gap of about 1/4" space between the flywheel and the stall. I was wondering if the correct way to make it work is to get a couple of washers and a longer bolt to take care of the gap between the stall and the flywheel? Someone please correct me if I am wrong so I do not make a big mistake and install it this way.

Re: Problem with new torque convertor.HELP
do you mean a space between the flexplate and the torque converter?
If that's what you are saying, that means everything is good to go. You pull the torque converter out to bolt it to the flexplate.
Usually there is not enough space because someone does not have the torque converter indexed into the front pump drive....

So is there not that much stress applied to where those to bolt up together.

I don't think that there should be any stress. They should line up so that the bolts go easily, with no alignment problems.
Re: Problem with new torque convertor.HELP
I just wanted to let you know that with these stall converters they can be different and if you pull the converter to the flex plate and you have to much of a gap it will not ride in the pump gears of the pump right or it might not ride in them at all and when you go to test the transmission it will not move, there should be only an 8th inch gap any more then that you should use washers and longer bolts. Just something to remember if it does not move when you get it all together.
