That happens all the time. Chances are it's broken off with a single thread still holding it in. Try using a magnet or a pick to turn the broken piece.

Pick = Scatch Awl, Pointed Punch, Some small shaft screw driver that has the end ground to a very sharp point. If you're lucky enough to have a line on some Dentistry teeth cleaning tools. You know, "picks".

Re: HELP!!! pin in diff. broke
I normally use a dental pick. When the bolt is tightened down, it's the friction of the head that holds it in not the threads pulling tight. The little bit that's holding what's left of the pin is usually about 1/2 a thread and there's no torque on it.
Using a dental pick you should be able to work it enough to remove the broken pin.
People tend to overtighten the pin. It's only a little 1/4" bolt. It doesn't need 50 pounds of torque to hold it in.

hahahahahahahaha good one...

!!!NEW METHOD!!! u get a driftpin the size of the shaft that the little pin holds in and a sledgehammer, and pound the crap outa it. thats wat i finally had to do. it finishes shearing the pin, allowing the shaft to come out. it was fuuuuun! lol

Re: HELP!!! pin in diff. broke
Using a punch to pound the pin might work providing you can get a straight shot at it but you risk damaging the threads in the carrier.
If you say it's loose then that's a real good sign that it will unscrew using a dental pick.
Oh and stop typing like you're text messaging. It's annoying to read.

is ths btr?
----------
just kidding. i didnt mean punch the pin, i meant punch the shaft that the pin holds, shearing the other side of the pin.

Re: HELP!!! pin in diff. broke
It doesnt ruin anything if you do it right. The crosspin is hardened steel. And if you dont hit the carrier, then theres no problem.
