9 bolt rebuild

So i just bought a 9 bolt with 3.45 gears that had munched spider gears. and because there are no replacements easily found i bought a complete 3 series posi carrier off ebay.
Can I just pull the gears off my old carrier and slap em in this one and put it back together? or is there something else I'm missing completely?
Thanks,
~JAKE

Re: 9 bolt rebuild

Well if it were me I would put all new bearings in, check carrier preload, pinion gear depth, gear pattern wear and then slap it together with a new crush sleeve and set pinion gear backlash. Get a complete setup kit from RATECH and it will include all you need minus the tools. You must know that all carriers are not exactly the same, it only takes a few thousands of an inch to make a difference, do it right the first time.
