i have a 1988 camaro with stock 305 and 700r4 tranny. when i get up to about 1750 rpm it starts to vibrate really bad. if i let off or accelerate the vibrations stop. i usually just leave it in drive because if i put it in overdrive when i accelerate from about 35 it shutters really bad until it kicks down a gear. i was wondering if my it is just going bad or if it was something else. Someone mentioned something to me about something with the torque converter that goes out alot and he said that might be the problem. i was just wondering if anyone knows what this might be. and if it is the tranny would rebuilding it fix it and if so how hard is a 700r4 to rebuild? thanks.

Doesn't sound like a transmission problem... sounds more like ignition. Burnt plug wire, fouled plug, that sort of thing.
