9 bolt
going to look at a 3.27 posi disc 9 bolt on saturday. what should i look for to determine if in good shape? from what i've read i will need to get a new 45 tooth driven gear and housing to correct the speedo from the factory 2.73 gears. i also believe i need a porportioning valve since i'll be swapping from drum to disc. ebrake cables come with the rearend, anything im forgetting?

You might even get lucky, and it will have the PBR brakes (which would be from 89 only); in which case you can use your existing MC and PV, because the PBR system has similar hydraulic requirements to drums. On the other hand, if it has the crappy Saginaw :barf: system, you'll have to change the hydraulics, because their flow/pressure requirements are substantially different from drums.
The correct driven gear will depend on what drive gear you have; you can pop your existing driven out, see how many teeth it has, calculate the proportion they need to change by (which your new one will be 3.27/2.73 times the old one, or almost exactly 1.20 times whatever your old one is), and order that. You may also find that whatever gear you calculate needing isn't available.... in which case you'll have to change the drive gear too. Much wiser to check in advance and see what you've got, rather than making some kind of assumption.
Yes the parking brake cables should hook right up, regardless.
I'd suggest getting the rubber brake hoses (maybe get Earl's SS braided instead of rubber), new sway bar bushings and end links, new springs, new shocks, maybe new LCAs, since you have to have all that stuff either halfway or all the way apart anyway. Freshen the whole rear of the car. New gear lube and brake pads of course.
