T-5 help - bell housing bolt pattern

Guys I need some T-5 help!
I have a Tremec in my 91, and I'm selling the car, so I took
it out because I wanna save it to stick into my 69 chevelle.
I bought what I was told a t5 out of a 89 z28 camaro. It has the
3 bolts at the tail end for the TQ-arm and 26 spline shaft,
so I thought its the right trans. Well I go to stick it in the car
and notice that the bolt pattern is tight - about 8" horizontal
and 6 1/2" vertical, while the bellhousing bolt pattern is
much wider in the horizontal about 9" and only 5" in the vertical,
plus its rotated at a bit of an angle, maybe 20degrees.
I'm gonna try to run the #s on the trans, hope its for a v8car.

So my question is - can I still use this T5?
Did early 3rdgens have a bellhousing that wasnt rotated?
If so could I get a different bellhousing.
If this is not a v8 camaro T5 I'm gonna try to get my $ back.
But I had a hard time finding this one, so wheres a good place
to find a good T5?

Thanks
Rafel

Sounds rather like a 4th gen-cyl one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stock...QQcmdZViewItem 3rd gen V8 - Note that although the ad copy says it "came out of" a 90 model, the VIN on it is 85; and it's DEFINITELY and UNMISTAKABLY the 1st design (86-back) version.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-5-...QQcmdZViewItem 4th gen 6-cyl Note how much narrower the "ears" are, where it bolts to the BH.

Good place to find one, is a wrecked car. Can't think of any other place right offhand.

Well there was no tag on the trans, but I did find these #s on it.
Tail housing: 1352-066-936
Top of case: 1352-097-91
Pass of case: 1352-065-922

I did not see these #s on the T5 list in the above "T5 post".
but all start with the 0XX, so it must be an early one.

My other question is - do the cars that came with manuel clutch setups
have a rotated T5 or where they straight?

Thanks

Re: T-5 help - bell housing bolt pattern

All of those numbers you posted are just the casting numbers of the parts. They will not identify the transmission. They do not mean "early".

The cars with mechanical clutches, such as mine was when I got it, have a BH that rotates the trans, exactly like the one in the hydraulic setup. They are basically identical, except that the old crude kind doesn't have the boss cast onto the side of it for the slave cyl.

Your trans still sounds to me like a 4th gen 6-cyl one. Look at the eBay listings and compare yours to those (subject to the one listing error I pointed out).

The number you need to find to identify the model is located on a metal tag that's attached to one of the tailshaft housing to main case bolts. Or there's a sticker on the top cover sometimes that has the model#. The model# is 1352-XXX. In other words, the 1352 is followed only by a 3 digit i.d. If you can find this number, just go to 5speeds.com, or Medatronics corp, and click on the T5 link. They have an online decoder for all the T5 model#'s.

Sounds like your trying to put this in the Tremec bellhousing. All 3rd V8 T5 are twisted to the left. You just need the right bellhousing.
