Posi opinions??
Posi opinions??
I am considering buying a rear end off of a camaro thats not posi to be geared into a posi. They're asking about 50 for the rearend and that i could get the gears rebuilt for about 150. Is this right? and Is the mmoney worth it to switch my firebird to a posi?

The gears arent what makes it a posi-traction rear end, its the differential. The gears attached to the differential.

Sounds like you are about to spend too much money to get too little.
Gears are about $200. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=SAG%2DG75373
A posi is about $500, for a good-quality new one. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...%2D19559%2D010
The bearing kit is about $100. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=RAT%2D308TK
Labor is usually about 3 hours, at about $75/hr. Sounds like somebody is working cheap. Let's say they're only charging you $150 labor, like you say.
Looks to me like you have $950 in parts & labor, PLUS the core (the worn-out thing you're buying to rebuild), PLUS the axles that you're going to need when you discover that the ones in your core are wasted like they always are. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...SAG%2DEV10%2D4
Does this look like a good idea?
I urge you to reconsider; and instead of all that, just go buy a 98-02 Camaro/Firbeird rear that already has posi and a gear you want. They're plentiful and will cost you ALOT LOT LOT less than what you are about to bite off on.
