Re: trans help
The most likely reason that the transmission is blown is because it couldn't take the beating from a heavy right foot and a 350. Keep in mind the V8 transmission you took out was stronger than the V6 transmission going in. That means that if you drive the same way your new transmission will go out even faster than the last one.
That being said, you just need a different clutch disk. The chevy Astro van with a 4.3 V6 and a 5 speed NV3500 used the same input as your V6 but I believe the disk was 11"
I don't know what size you need but that's a place to start. Everything will bolt up as it should.

Re: trans help
The correct disc for a V8 T5 is 10.4" in diameter. The 11" won't work with the 153 tooth flywheel and the smaller T5 bellhousing. There is a 14 spline, 10.4" disc out there somewhere though, as I've seen guys on here discuss it. V6 T5's are used in V8 f-bodies a lot, but it's really just a crutch to get you by temporarily. The reason I say that is the gear ratios in the V6 T5's suck behind a good 350, so it'd be pretty miserable to drive. Since your original V8 T5 was a non-world class (87-older) unit, they're not too hard to come by for a decent price used, if you hunt around a little. People usually pay a lot more for the preferred world class (88-newer) T5's, so at least that's in your favor. Unless you absolutely have to have the car running right away, I'd recommend being patient and finding another V8 T5 to replace the toasted one.
