Re: another 9-bolt Question
More Pictures. I drove the car home i dont know if it was the tranny or not but the car had no Get up and go at all. It drove ok, but as long as the car is moving does that mean the rear end works. Im not sure about rear ends. But the fluid was really dirty. Any ideas for checking the rear this. like i said not sure if it was the motor, tranny or rear. Thanks

Re: another 9-bolt Question
There's only one brand of 9-bolt carrier and that's stock GM. Sorry I dont know which aftermarket company they used, but they're long since discontinued. I think the gears were made by Motive, same as the 10-bolts.

Re: another 9-bolt Question
rear axle gear lube will always be black (discolored) and thick like syrup, unless it's brand spanking new stuff. I don't know at what point it changes color, maybe after it's been up to operating temp for a few thousand miles(?), but on all the rear ends that I've drained, it's always black, thick, and smelly, and that's been on healthy rear ends. unless you've got a magnet and there's particles in there, or frictions are worn smooth, that's the normal state. IMHO.
