Re: shft kit

well, if you want stronger and last longer, then you don't want "neck-snapping" shifts. that breaks parts.....ask me how i know.

transgo is probably the best shift kit out there. Pro built Automatics on here makes a modified version. he takes any guesswork out of the kit for you. might want to look him up.

Re: shft kit

I'm not sure if this set up would be up your alley or interest you,but this is what my tranny set up is on my 86' I-roc Z. **note my tranny is automatic.

Trans info (all less then 100 miles on it but bullet proof almost)
All inside are TCI Race Master kit
Big Hayden RV trans cooler
Jegs 10" 3000 stall
flexable tranny dip stick
Hurst th400 swap in 82-92 Camaro

**also has B & M Ratching shifter**

now my car is set up to take a drag race beating at our local drag strips, but it's still driveable around town.(once i put legal tires on the back) you don't need to have a th400 to have a shift kit and nice shifter, just have to get the right parts for your current tranny's specs.

good luck,
kelly

Re: shft kit

Depending on what you have done to the transmission will determine if it is "bullet proof". The TCI Race Master kit is ok. The "modified" TransGo Performance Shift kit can help in terms of longevity, but it still somewhat depends on how the unit was built. What shift kit do you have in there now? What servos did the builder install?

Re: shft kit

well, i wasn't the one to have it rebuilt. i'm just posting the info the guy gave me, that i bought the car from back in nov.07'. looking at the papers of things done to the car, these are some of the trans parts that have been put on the car...HUU-5500002 Trans Swap Kit,TCI-24153 Performance Converter, and if i remember right it has Hurst in it.

I went to look up some of the info, and when i looked up TCI259015 Master Racing Overhaul Kit on summet, it wouldn't give me servos or the bands. The Invoice to from the Trans shop he had it built at doesn't have any info on any of that either. The invoice for it, is pretty blunt,it just says what was done w/it,and what the customer supplied for the rebuild, which was that master kit. Sorry if I confused any of you, just trying to help. If the guy isn't looking to put it for racing,i know there's other options on there for rebuild kits that are more street worth than mine.It just takes a bit of research and someone w/more knowledge than i can offer. My car is still streetable w/the set up,as long as i don't have my slicks on the car. Sorry if i confused ya, was just trying to help. Sometimes I have to take a step back and remind myself, that I didn't set the car up the way it is right now,so i'm limited on info.

sorry,but good luck,
kelly
