I have a 1991 camaro with a LS1 and as far as i know it only comes automatic tranmission the 700r4

search a bit, you will find plenty. Check out the ls1/lt1 section in engine swaps. Are you sure its an ls1? A t56 6 speed came stock behind the ls1. the trans is a 4l60e or something like that, the 700r4 is an older trans, though similar

You should post up some pictures of the engine so that we can see what you're talking about. The LS1 engine was not invented yet when your car was built so we're all a little confused...
The only thing your car could have had factory was a 3.1 V6, or a 305 or 350 Chevy small block.

Well if it's a 350 with TPI then it's a L98 not an LS1 unless the engine was swapped. Yes the 700r4 was the only tranny offered with the L98. Yes you can swap to a manual. A T56 is a good choice. Take a look at the articles in the tech section, there are a few articles covering auto to manual swaps.
