t56 swap question

Car: 1985 Z28 (project) drive 2006 F-150
Engine: to be deturmined
Transmission: to be powerglide
Axle/Gears: to be 9".. spool.. possibly 5.14:1
t56 swap question

just read online170 post on the auto to t56 thread... great post but im a lil worried about my future swap, i also want to go t-56 from 700r4... my question is.... i want to use a lt1 t56, clutch, flywheel but will the shifter come through the original spot in the center consol?

Are you thinking of using your automatic shifter plate for the manual transmission? If so, no it wont fit, but you can cut it and make it look real nice.

Otherwise, if you convert to a manual console shift plate from a 5 spd car, (which bolts to your console), you will have no problems.

Yes - After converting from a 700R4 to a T56 I used a factory 5-speed shifter plate from a Third Gen and have no problems.
