poppin in new gears. ANything im missing
Okay I got a buddy doin my gears for me. I bought a rebuild kit for the rear end also. I was just curious as to if i need to do something.? I was reading about some sonnax spring tv cable adjuster? What does it actually do? I guess ima need a speedo adjustment. On my car how is it controlled?
Will the gears be at their best potential without adjusting things like that tv cable? I never heard of all that so it just confused me to no end.

If you have a cable-driven speedometer, you will need to change the speedo gears to match the gear ratio in the rear axle, at least to have an ~accurate speedometer reading. The TV cable should be set as usual (it's really a setting, not an adjustment), and you may need to re-calibrate the trans governor to get the shift points where you want them. Between re-calibrating the governor, and using the Sonnax spring, I have my shift points pretty close to where I want them.

Try www.transmichigan.com , Sonnax is listed in the table of contents on the left-hand side of the page. B&M and TCI have governor re-cal kits (check Jeg's or Summit). You change weights and / or springs on the trans governor to change shift points. Drive the car with the new gears installed, you may not have to change the shift points. Gonna put a (ProBuilt modified TransGo) shift kit in there?

If you have a GOOD rebuilder, who will install someone else's kit / parts, I would have to recommend getting a rebuild kit from ProBuilt; or getting a rebuilt trans from them. I've heard good things about Raptor and GM Bowtie overdrives, but have personal experience w/ ProBuilt. Dana / ProBuilt rocks.
