Anyone narrow a 10 bolt?
I am thinking of narrowing a 92' Z28 10 bolt to fit in my 57' Chevy.. Has anyone had this done or know who I would look to for the service? I was going to call Currie and Moser, but think I could get it done cheaper elsewhere. I posted in the Nor-Calif. boards and it was suggested that I do it myself... Has anyone done this? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Anyone narrow a 10 bolt?
This is one more thing to consider; your 10 bolt from the Z28 is weak from the factory. It is not adequate for your third gen and you want to put it in a larger, heavier car... After you spend the money to narrow it, you will then break it to pieces.
I am doing a similar swap into my 57 Buick. After lots of measuring, it looks like the mid 70s A body cars are a good fit with lots of tire clearance. They are 8.5 ten bolts and are much stronger than these crappy 7.5 rears. It's not the power as much as the load that kills them. That's why you can get a 7.5 rear in an S-10 but not a full size 1/2 ton pickup. Too much weight plus power equals destroyed rear end.

'68-up Nova rears are the right width for a shoebox. Mine is an 8.2" 10-bolt from a '71 Nova. Had to move the spring perches, that's it.
At a minimum, go with an 8.2" or 8.5" 10-bolt. The 7.5/7.625" 10-bolts would be an exercise in self-inflicted pain in a tri-five.
